A brand new shopping experience has arrived at Waterfront City - 18 Sep 2008
In a retail first for Melbourne Docklands, the much anticipated Harbour Town shopping centre at Waterfront City will officially open its first stores to the public on Tuesday, 21 October 2008.
Set across two spacious levels and spanning over 41,000 square metres, the open air shopping precinct offers an exceptional mix of specialty and discount retailers, promising to deliver more than just great shopping.
Located in an enviable position directly under the iconic new Melbourne tourism attraction, the Southern Star observation wheel, Harbour Town is sure to entice shopping addicts, bargain hunters and fashionistas alike with its combination of brand direct and specialty stores.
An exciting and particularly unique aspect of Harbour Town is the introduction of new retail concept, The Designers' House. Akin to a Parisian couturier salon, The Designers' House not only features an exclusive range of high end fashion collections, but also boasts a luxurious lounge area and powder room.
Customers of The Designers' House will also enjoy personalised attention from experienced sales staff who will be on call to answer their every request, and be invited to join regular, elegant VIP nights to preview the latest collections.
The new shopping precinct is easily accessible by public transport and is supported by over 2,850 public car spaces.
In 2009, Waterfront City will also boast a further shopping attraction when American retail giant Costco opens its first Australian store.
A wholesale warehouse membership club that carries quality, brand name merchandise at substantially lower prices than typically found at conventional wholesale or retail stores, the 14,000sqm Costco warehouse will
present one of the most extensive product category selections to be found under a single roof including groceries, appliances, television and media, automotive supplies, tyres, toys, hardware, sporting goods, jewellery, watches, cameras, books, homewares, apparel, health and beauty aids, tobacco, furniture, office supplies and office equipment.
The Harbour Town brand is jointly owned by ING Real Estate and Lewis Land with three successful existing centres already operating in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
Harbour Town is a highlight of the second stage of development at Waterfront City. Waterfront City is Melbourne's most exciting retail, residential, commercial, event and entertainment hub and is also home to a diverse range of restaurants, bars, cafes, piazza with a capacity to hold up to 10,000 people and the largest public marina in Melbourne.
Additional future developments proposed for the precinct include a 5 star boutique hotel at the Melbourne Yacht Club, an additional 3-4 star hotel, commercial offices, residential homes and the National Ice Sports Centre.
Harbour Town Adelaide expansion signals new era of growth - 18 Mar 2008
Harbour Town Adelaide has today announced plans to expand its shopping precinct in Adelaide 's booming western suburbs, in a move that will create 30 new stores and more than 250 jobs.
The Lewis Land Group, said capital works have commenced on the development as part of a major expansion of what is already the State's biggest outlet shopping destination.
Opened by Premier Mike Rann in 2003, Harbour Town was expanded in 2005 to include 30 additional outlet stores. National Marketing Manager, Angela Gore said shoppers and tourists from Adelaide and regional South Australia were strong supporters of Harbour Town 's existing outlet stores, but there was also robust demand for a broader shopping experience. "
Adelaide's west is being transformed into a business and tourism hub with local, interstate and international businesses all keen to secure a prime location near the Adelaide Airport," Ms Gore said.
"We've already seen significant interest from high-profile retailers keen to be a part of all that's happening in and around Harbour Town 's West Beach location and we're expecting to see even greater interest as the construction takes shape."
This has prompted leading supermarket operator Woolworths to take up an anchor tenancy and discussions are currently underway with other interested retailers.
Woolworths' presence will secure its place in its second Harbour Town Centre - having already traded successfully in Harbour Town Gold Coast.
More than 400 new parking spaces will be added as part of the development to cater for increased demand.
Ms Gore said more than 300 people were currently employed at Harbour Town Adelaide. The new development was expected to create in excess of 250 jobs in retail, hospitality and management over the next few years.
